Lost, But Not Forgotten

I can't believe how long it has been since my last post. Since the last post, we have added several new designers, dealt with skin cancer, finished a PhD in educational leadership, started a line of stylish and unique baby blankets, and taken a celebratory trip to the Don Cesar Beach Resort in St. Petersburg, FL. Whew. I'm tired just thinking about it all. Forgive and forget...well not forget, but the first one anyway.

See our new line of Mimi & Maya stylish baby blankets, bibs, burps and accessories. This line is designed to compliment your style rather than compromise it! Enjoy!

Buying a Nursery Glider Online

Shopping for soft goods, such as gliders and ottomans online can be confusing, so always remember these tips:

1. Shop the Shape First
Soft goods are available in hundreds of fabrics, and if you don't like what the company offers, you can often use your own fabric. This is called Customers Own Material (COM). It is important that you find the line of the piece you want. That is why our images feature white chairs. Fabric choices are available for each chair once you select it. Do you like curves or straight lines? Do you want ruffles or a tailored skirt?

2. Know Your Dimensions
You may fall in love with a glider, but if it won't fit in the nursery, you may be stuck with it in the living room! Take precise measurements of the nursery. You may want to plot furniture placement on a piece of graph paper. Remember, you need room for your glider to move back and forth, so don't stick it right up against a wall.

3. Order Swatches
Once you have picked out your favorite shape and know that it will fit in your nursery, order swatches of your favorite fabrics. Pick a few that you are sure will be perfect, and take a chance on a couple that inspire you. You may be surprised at what works with your bedding. Check out the fabric against the bedding, the wall color and the flooring to be sure that you are happy with it.

4. Pick A Keeper
Nursery gliders have come a long way, and when selected carefully, they will easily transition into a family room or even an office later. You are making an investment, so be sure it is one you love and will want to use for years.

Get Personal!

Is it a trend, or is it tradition? For centuries, we have been placing our stamp of ownership on things...monogrammed silver, family crests and tartans, scrolling ironwork on entry gates.

Today, monogramming and personalization is hotter than ever! As one lady we recently met said "if you are sitting still, someone will monogram you"! While it's not quite that drastic, monogramming has become very popular again and we just love it. Make your baby's room truly personal with wall letters, monogrammed bedding, personalized art and accessories. Many classic pieces, such as pillows can be used for years to come. So, go ahead and put your name on it!

A Sticky Situation

If there is one constant about design...nothing is constant! We are always changing our minds about what we "just love" or "absolutely have to have". Wall Candy Arts is here to help create the room of your dreams...whatever your dream is for the day.

Fabulous, hip and trendy designs stick to the wall for as long as you like. Try the cute flowers, cars, or one of the cool chalkboard animals. We like the Rococo for the kitchen. When you are ready for a change, simply pull them down and move them around...or start with a whole new set! The possibilities are endless. Have fun!

How Smart!

Anyone with babies knows that they are always putting something in their mouths. And, when they are teething, its ten times worse because they are looking to ease the discomfort. So, the scene goes something like this: Mom is holding fussy baby and offers a teething ring, soft cloth or other object for baby to chew on. Baby drops said object and Mom retrieves. Repeat. Or, heaven forbid that Mom forgets the teething ring on a trip to the supermarket!

Now imagine that Baby's teething ring is with you whenever you need it. And, you look fabulously stylish to boot! The ladies behind Smart Mom Jewelry have designed a line of baby-safe teething pendants and bangles for moms to wear. Smart Mom Teething Bling® products are non-toxic, 100% lead-free, phthalate, BPA and PVC free. The pendants are strung on a soft cord with a breakaway clasp, so if baby tugs a little too hard, it will separate easily.

Please note that these pendants are for Mom to wear, not for baby to play with unattended.
